Northern Construction & Team Badd Crowned Champions for Mall Ball: 3x3 Spring Slam at the Micronesia Mall – April 21, 2024

Micronesia Mall proudly hosted the exhilarating Mall Ball '24: 3x3 Spring Slam from April 19 to April 21, 2024. Organized in partnership with Clutch Guam, this dynamic weekend-long tournament featured both men’s and women’s divisions, with games commencing at 6:00 PM on Friday, April 19. The event concluded with the finals on Sunday evening, drawing a lively crowd to the Micronesia Mall Center Court.

A total of 21 teams participated in this spring’s tournament, comprising a competitive mix of adult players and high school athletes. After intense semifinal rounds, the competition narrowed down to the top two teams in each division.

In the women's final, Team Badd triumphed over the Lady MVP Jr. Stars, claiming the championship title and a $1,000 cash prize, while Lady MVP Jr. Stars took home a $500 cash prize. The men’s final was a gripping face-off between NCI 1, sponsored by Northern Construction, and Alter Ego, sponsored by AlterXEgo Entertainment. NCI 1 emerged victorious, winning the $2,000 top prize, with Alter Ego securing the second place and a $500 cash prize.

For the women's division, the winning team Team Badd featured Denasha Mondy, Derin Stinnett, A’lura Hernandez, and Ryanna Ngirchomlei. The second-place Lady MVP Jr. Stars included Destiny Patrick, Lana Quinata, Jia Peters, and Gabby Hahn.

The champions of the men’s division, NCI 1, included players Elmar Moradas, Roger Malig-on, Raniel Diwa, and Jerry Lumongsod. The runner-up, Alter Ego, consisted of Karl Melencio, Reggie Rechebong, Vince Estella, and Mark Johnson.

“The key factor in our victory? We give each other confidence and maintain constant communication throughout the game,” said Jerry Lumongsod from NCI 1. “We have team support—there's no blaming, just playing good, pure basketball.”

Lumongsod expressed gratitude to Northern Construction’s management. “We’d like to give credit to the company for the support. We’re happy. The team is happy. Our management is happy.”

Lumongsod also thanked Micronesia Mall. “The Mall Ball was a heartwarming tournament. The event was well-organized, the crowd was supportive, and I enjoyed the experience of pure basketball. I’m looking forward to participating in more events like this.”

The event captivated fans, who enthusiastically cheered from the bleachers, supporting their favorite teams and celebrating the skilled play and sportsmanship displayed throughout the weekend. The audience also enjoyed games during the intermissions with prizes from Micronesia Mall and event sponsors. Players also received giveaways courtesy of Micronesia Mall and event sponsors.

Micronesia Mall looks forward to hosting more fitness and sports events in its Center Court. The summer games, which will feature coveted prizes and titles, are set to take place in a few months, promising more weeks of intense competition.
